NEW 2024 DATE NOW AVAILABLE. REGISTRATION OPEN FOR CALGARY AREA. MAY 8, Wednesday, 10:00am LEARN TO HUNT / OUTDOOR FIELD COURSE is our signature hunting skills training for beginner Alberta hunters. This program provides practical learning experience in the foothills of Canadian Rockies. Let's face it, hunting is not easy. We want to save you some time and help you to avoid common beginner challenges. We designed our field course to get you ready for your first hunting adventures. You will learn essential skills and have opportunity to practice in a hunting environment. To make the experience authentic, we will share our stories and provide tips that we learnt in the field. WE BUILT THIS COURSE TO HELP YOU SUCCEED IN THE UPCOMING HUNTING SEASON. Course segments: ALBERTA HUNTING EXPERIENCE - HOW TO PLAN A HUNT. Introduction to hunting opportunities in Alberta, navigating the regulations, maximizing chances of being drawn in Alberta Hunting Draw, gear overview, e-scouting and pre-hunt research. EXPLORING AND NAVIGATING HUNTING ZONE. Understanding wildlife habitat and huntability of a zone. Using terrain to your advantage. Practical field exercise with maps, hunting apps and glassing. SAFETY. Recognizing and managing risks on a hunt. Environmental hazards. Bear safety. Communication tools. Wilderness survival. FINDING WILDLIFE. Understanding animal behavior and different times of the season. HUNTING METHODS & EXERCISE. Still hunting. Spot-and-stalk. Ambush. Game calling. Firearms versus bowhunting considerations. AFTER THE SHOT. Tagging, field dressing, transporting wild game, butchering, wild game cooking, trophy preparation. - Course is limited to a maximum of six hunters. This is an all-weather learning experience. For adult hunters 18+. Transportation to course location is not provided. Light snacks and soft-drinks provided. Location will be shared after the registration. Up to 1.5 hour drive from Calgary. Learn to Hunt Outdoor Field Course is NOT a firearms course. No firearms are allowed on this course. --- Please note that this course is not recognized as a provincial requirement for first-time hunters in Alberta. You must complete official Alberta Hunter Education Instructors Association (AHEIA) course to be able to purchase hunting licenses.

To cancel or reschedule, please contact us at least 48 hours prior to start time of your session. Cancellations made 48 hours and earlier are subject to full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours are not eligible for refund. In this case, we will be happy to reschedule you to a future date.
